Callum Turner Bookmakers Favourite for Bond Role

Gambling here in the UK’s a funny old thing. Not only can we bet on a variety of different sports and casino games, but we can also bet on some of the more obscure things in life. We can bet on whether it will snow on Christmas Day, we can bet on UK politics, and, as it turns out, we can bet on the entertainment industry.
It’s been several years now since Daniel Craig donned his tuxedo for the last time playing iconic British spy James Bond, and since Amazon acquired the rights to Bond, speculation has been rife surrounding who might be next in line to play the suave MI6 agent.
Following the release of the new video game, 007 First Light, speculation in recent weeks has really ramped up, with many expecting an imminent announcement. So, who is next in line for the Bond Role? Well, currently the bookies are tipping Callum Turner, but what sort of odds can we expect, and who else is in the running to play Bond. James Bond?
Callum Turner
As of this writing, it’s 36-year-old British actor Callum Turner who is the Irish bookmaker’s favourite to play James Bond next.
Turner being the favourite to play Bond has caught a few people off guard, but with Amazon saying the next Bond will be ‘really different’ Turner has emerged as favourite to play the iconic British spy. You may know him from the Fantastic Beasts films, or The Boys in the Boat.
Callum isn’t as well known as the other names on our list today, and some have been harshly critical of his appearance. It is worth pointing out however, that the same was said of Daniel Craig when he was cast as Bond in Casino Royale, and now for many, he’s considered the best Bond ever.
Currently, both Betfred and Ladbrokes are offering 11/10 odds for Callum to be named as the next 007 agent.
Henry Cavill
For a long while, Henry Cavill was the favourite to play Bond, with many considering it all-but-guaranteed. Now, some bookmakers are slightly less certain, though the odds are still good.
Henry Cavill is considered by many to be the ultimate James Bond candidate. He’s painfully handsome, he’s very well spoken and already speaks decidedly posh, he’s in great shape, and as we’ve seen in The Witcher series, he can fight. He also has a good relationship with Amazon Studios as is evident from what we’ve learned about his upcoming Warhammer series.
If you believe Henry Cavill will be next to be cast as James Bond, Ladbrokes and Betfred will offer you 3/1 odds.
Tom Hardy (Outside Pick)
Now for a bit of an outside pick, that many would love to come to fruition. Tom Hardy.
Tom Hardy is another handsome English fella’, who has appeared in a number of iconic roles over the years. From Ronnie and Reggie Kray in Legend, to Alfie Solomons in Peaky Blinders, he’s definitely got the fanbase. While his usual demeanour is more along the lines of an East End thug than wealthy British spy, he’s displayed some incredible range over the years, so would slip into the role of Bond in no time at all.
As an outside pick, Ladbrokes and Betfred are both currently offering 40/1 odds on Tom Hardy being cast as the next James Bond.
