Can Anyone Challenge the Shamrock Rovers? LOI Odds

The Shamrock Rovers are currently leading the way strongly in terms of odds on the Irish Premier Division. However, while the Rovers are definitely the bookies’ favourites at the moment, they aren’t guaranteed to win, and there’s still the chance that another team might be able to clinch the win from underneath them. In line with this thought, today, we’re delving into the world of the Irish Premier Division to see if the Shamrock Rovers genuinely have any competition – or are they almost guaranteed to win the Division?

What are the Current Odds on the Shamrock Rovers?

At the moment, Shamrock are way in front in the rankings for the Irish Premier Division, boasting a total of 49 points compared to their main competition, Derry, at 40 points. In line with this thought, it’s perhaps not surprising that the Shamrock Rovers are way ahead with the bookies, too. Indeed, at present, the Shamrock Rovers are sitting very comfortably at odds of ⅖ (1.4) with both Bet365 and BoyleSports, indicating that they are incredibly confident in the Rovers to win.

Do the Rovers Have Any Competition for Odds?

While the Rovers are evidently the bookies’ favourite, they’re not completely without competition, and this comes mainly from Derry City, which is being offered at odds of 4/1 (5.0) with Bet365 and BoyleSports. While a long way off the Rovers’ odds, this still indicates that the bookies are moderately confident that Derry could make a comeback yet.

The Bohemias also aren’t out of the running, with current odds sitting at 6/1 (7.0). While a stretch further still, it’s again not out of the realm of possibility that they might be able to pull off a win if they really bring their top form for their upcoming games.

However, outside of these top three, odds begin to get pretty long thereafter, and it seems unlikely that any of the other teams will be able to climb enough in the rankings to succeed. Notably, Shelbourne and Drogheda are currently sitting at odds longer than 20/1; so, the chances of them pulling off a last-minute win are feeling more and more unlikely.

Does the Rovers’ Recent Form Back Up Their Chances?

Thus far in the Irish Premier Division, the Shamrock Rovers have undoubtedly been doing a good job, and in total, they’ve managed 14 wins out of 25 games in total. Moreover, of the 11 they didn’t win, seven matches ended in a draw, with only four losses overall. That’s a vastly better record than Derry City, which have only won 12 matches and only drew four times. Plus, the last they played eachother on the 23rd May, Shamrock beat Derry 2-1, so it doesn’t seem hugely likely that Derry will pull off a huge comeback.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been following the Irish Premier Division, you’ll likely already know that the Shamrock Rovers are greatly leading the pack with 49 points in total, compared to Derry City in second at 40 points and the Bohemians and Drogheda United both tied for third and fourth at 38 points.

Given this, while it’s not impossible that the Rovers could be knocked off the top spot, it doesn’t seem all that likely, and we’ll be watching with great interest in particular for the Shamrock vs Derry game on the 1st August 2025.
